BULK BILLING MAY BE AVAILABLE FOR MOST MEDICARE REBATABLE SERVICES FOR MEDICARE CARD HOLDERS. Bulk Billing may be available for some Skin Cancer Checks, procedures, and surgery. However, out of pocket costs usually apply as not all skin cancer services are currently covered by the MBS Medicare schedule, most advanced skin checks are not covered and some checks and procedures may only be partially covered.

These out of pocket cost apply to cover costs to ensure ongoing sustainability of the skin cancer service and to maintain and improve the high quality of service we have come to be known for.

Skin Checks and Surgical procedures with a Medicare rebate may  sometimes incur an out of pocket costs(Mostly $40 but varies from $20- $100 capped)  may apply for some dressings, surgical pack usage, theatre/procedure room usage, dermatoscopic and other equipment usages, secure image storage etc 

Out of pocket costs (usually varies from $75- $200) may also apply for some surgery not covered or fully covered by Medicare such as some excisions, multiple surgical procedures and some advanced and aesthetic skin reconstruction surgery.

We find that most patients save between $100 to $300 per visit when they visit our facility for consultations or treatments compared to receiving comparative skin cancer checks or treatments in other specialised facilities.

This check is usually suitable for those that have had a full body skin check within the last 6 months and have a spot or two of concern or changing, painful, bleeding, sensitive or itchy spot wanting an expert check or second opinion.

This is our most popular and most requested skin check appointment, usually there is a waiting list of 4 to 6 weeks to get this skin check done at our centre, however, we do endeavour to accommodate urgent appointments, please book as early as possible. For most people, we usually recommend they have this skin check every 6 months or annually.

3 Head to toe full body skin check, scanning and mapping: This is a thorough examination of your body including, head, foot/toes and nails, moles and other skin lesions are scanned using an advanced Dermatoscope to visualise their internal architecture to look for suspicious features of skin cancer. Our skin clinic subspecialises in early detection dermatoscopy which enables the accurate identification of the features of the earliest changes of skin cancer on the Dermatoscope.This is a very important examination as skin cancers commonly occur in parts of the body difficult to see like the back, can occur also in areas of the body not usually exposed to the sun and in the heel, toes, nails, scalp etc.

4 Mole imaging: Some moles may be identified during the full body check/scanning as requiring further evaluation or monitoring/surveillance. These moles or skin lesions are digitally imaged and the polarised microscopic images of the external and internal architecture or structure of the lesions are securely stored for further evaluation, surveillance and monitoring of changes.

5 Mole surveillance and monitoring: Records, measurements and dermatoscopic images are stored of identified suspicious or moles of concern where immediate removal is not medically indicated. These images are used for mole surveillance and monitoring with the progress of this moles or skin lesions being monitored through sequential digital dermatoscopic imaging (SDDI).

6 Skin cancer prevention and early detection education: Skin cancer education is offered focused on sun protection and regular home self-examination. 7 Planning of treatment: Any identified skin lesions requiring treatment are discussed, diagnosis and prognosis explained and treatment and individualised management options are discussed including, topical treatments, cryotherapy/serial cryotherapy, hyfrecation,  biopsies and surgical excisions, complicated operative procedures, flaps, grafts, aesthetic/cosmetic skin reconstruction surgery etc. These treatments may be arranged with the patients GP, specialist/hospital or at our skin cancer surgery clinic with facilities to provide most treatments including most common advanced surgical treatment modalities.

 

 

Most of this checks are not covered by Medicare, however, some features may be covered under Medicare, so out of pocket costs usually will apply to this skin checks to ensure the sustainability of the service and maintenance and upgrading of equipment.
